Wondering if anyone might know: I recently purchased a GS book (dated 1916) that arrived (unexpectedly) with an insert (a rectangular strip of card-stock, situated about half-way down the page, that appears to have been sewn into the binding of the book; it's the very first thing one sees when one opens the book). It's inscribed: "With the compliments of John R. Gregg." The inscription is in a very attractive hand.
My question is: has anyone seen these inserts before? Were they actually hand-written, or mass printed? The inscription in my book has more of a printed look than a written one, but I can't tell for sure. Much obliged for any thoughts.
