Grand Canyon

Summer is the time of travel, and Grand Canyon is one of the most visited National Parks in the United States (only surpassed by the Great Smoky Mountains). In 2015, 5.5 million people witnessed the wonders of one of the largest canyons on Earth. A mile deep and up to 18 miles wide at places, the Canyon is so vast that even from the best vantage point, only a fraction of its 277 miles can be seen. This article, written by aviator Wolfgang Langewiesche, appeared in the February 1957 issue of Reader's Digest. I rewrote it for the blog in Simplified.
